Because I love this series so much and I hate that there are people who haven’t read it, I have a little giveaway at the end of this review so one person can win the first two books in the Love Me With Lies series, The Opportunist and Dirty Red. Enjoy.
Note to Self
Love is patient; love is kind.
Love doesn’t boast or brag.
There’s no arrogance in love;
it’s never rude, crude, or indecent-it’s not self absorbed.
Love isn’t easily upset.
Love doesn’t tally wrongs.
Love trusts, hopes, and endures no matter what.
Love will never become obsolete.
I’ll fight for her.
Caleb Drake never got over his first love. Not when he got married. Not when she got married. When life suddenly comes full circle Caleb must decide how how far he is willing to go to get the aloof and alluring Olivia Kaspen back. But for every action in life there is a consequence, and soon Caleb finds out that sometimes love comes at an unbearably high price.
I am the match and she is the gasoline and without each other we are just two objects void of reaction.
Like most book lovers, I can’t tell you how excited I was to see that Thief (Love Me With Lies #3) had gone live last night. I was actually meant to star a new beta project but as soon as I saw that the conclusion to an incredible series was out, I dropped everything, one-clicked, and started reading. Being in the UK it was pretty late and even though I was so tired that I dropped my Kindle on my face numerous times, I didn’t stop reading until the very last page at 5.20am. Was it worth having just a few hours sleep and needing endless amounts of caffeine to be able to function today? Hell yes it was!
I knew I was lying to myself by thinking I could fix her. But it was too late. I didn’t know how to let go.
Not long after I first got my Kindle at New year (yes, I know, I was behind the times but I love my paperbacks) I heard Jenn Stirling talking about how amazing this book called The Opportunist by Tarryn Fisher was, and saying how book #2 Dirty Red had just been released. So I bought them. When I read the synopsis for book #1 I won’t lie, Olivia sounded like a little bitch so I didn’t pick them up for a long time. When I was running out of books and the Love Me With Lies series were the only unread books I had left, I caved. I started reading and was beating the hell out of myself for leaving them on my Kindle like they were nothing. Because, they are incredible!! There are no two ways around it. If you haven’t already then you NEED to read these books!
I was going to chase this chilly, abrasive woman. I’d chase her all the way to her ducking ice palace and melt it down if I had to.
So I started on Thief. I could have cried with excitement and I’m not even joking when I say I was close to it. Tarryn did AMAZING with Caleb’s POV! She got in his head so well that I just couldn’t look away. I swear, my house could have been on fire and I would have just calmly left my house, reading all the way to safety. Like the two previous books, Thief goes back and forth from past to present day as we find out the crazy love, lies, and deception of Caleb, Olivia, Leah and Noah. And boy, was it intense! I hated Leah with a passion in TO. In DR I still hated her but I kind of liked her as well. She had been through a lot and she could actually be really funny with all her bitchiness. In Thief I was back to full on, in your face hate! This woman is cruel and bitter and will do anything for revenge.
She says that if she keeps defending criminals, she’s going to go to hell and she really doesn’t want to spend eternity with Leah.
Noah I loved in TO and DR, but in Thief I thought he was a bit of an ass and he pissed me off that his attitude towards Olivia was that she could take care of herself, even when she was in great danger. I lost all kinds of respect for him them but to be honest, he could of been the nicest, most caring person in the world and I still would have been #TeamCaleb. Cammie – Olivia’s BFF – is beyond awesome. She is such an incredible friend and she is HILARIOUS!!! I’m pretty sure that most of what she says has been highlighted in my ebook. If Tarryn was to write Cammie her own book, there’s a good chance that there may be screaming . . . Who am I kidding?? I love this series, there would most definitely be screaming.
“God, that’s embarrassing – once the big man on campus, now the bitch’s errand boy.
Olivia I loved from the very beginning. She’s feisty and strong but also quite vulnerable. She’s pretty bitchy and sometimes I wondered if she even knew how to tell the truth. But she was a truly fantastic character! She has a really dry sense of humour and I LOVED that. Especially when it came to Leah. There was a scene at a funeral (no spoilers) when Leah was in major bitch mode (surprise, surprise. As if Leah has any other mode) and Olivia got straight up in her face, and I mean STRAIGHT up in her face and it was beautiful!! I think I loved her even more for that. Caleb *dreamy sighs* the man we’ve all been waiting for. I have loved this guy hard since the very first time he appeared on my Kindle during TO and that hasn’t changed in the slightest. Except, maybe I love him even more now. I don’t think he gets the recognition he deserves as a book boyfriend because he is amazing!! He’s known what he wanted/needed since he first laid eyes on her and after 10 years he wasn’t going to let anything stop him getting her.
My competition is good. Undoubtedly he’s never lied to her, broken her heart or married another woman to spite her. But she’s mine, and I’m not giving her up without a fight this time.
Ugh!! These guys sure know how to mess stuff up when it comes to each other. They nearly drove me insane. But they are just so perfect together!! A lot of time went between each encounter. Months. Years. And though so much happened in their respective lives, nothing really changed. They were destined to be together from the moment they fell in love under a tree. We get to hear Caleb’s side of things and was surprised at some of his admissions. He spreads light on all the things we wanted to know and some things we didn’t even KNOW we wanted to know, but are so glad that we do now. I was begging with all my heart and soul that these two would snap out of it and just fight for each, but so much constantly got in the way of them and it was majorly frustrating!!
“She will be your destruction. She’s not healthy.” I gently removed her hand from my arm. “Then let her destroy me.”
This book, was perfection. Plain and simple. No two ways about it. It told Caleb’s story in a way that made it impossible to put down because you’re so desperate to find out how things end and if he FINALLY gets is HEA with Olivia. There are some shocks. Some sad parts that will have you wiping away tears. Plenty of laughs and a whole lot of love. Olivia and Caleb’s story isn’t a tale of sunshine and roses. It isn’t even a tale of second chances. 5th, 6th, 7th chances maybe?? I don’t know. I lost count. But what it is, is a tale of two broken souls. Destined and bound by their incredible love for each other. A love that would last a life time. Survive marriages. Crazy women. Obsessed rapists. Pain and heartbreak. And and endless amount of hurdles. It wasn’t easy. But it was beautiful. And I wouldn’t change a thing about it.
But here we are. I struck my match, she poured out her gasoline. We burn now. All the time.
The Opportunist, Dirty Red and Thief are without a doubt, 110%, books that you need to read. Tarryn Fisher is such an amazingly, talented writer and you are seriously missing out if you don’t read her work.
