This book grabbed my attention at the prologue. I wanted to know who this man was that was stirring such a reaction that his leaving reduced a woman to a pile of tears. Ivy Thompson is a girl in her early 20’s trying to complete an internship at a small town paper over the summer. She will be working with her childhood friend Ryan and for his stepsister, Lauren Price.
Eric Young is 24 yr old man that has suffered more than his share of loss. Closed off for almost 2 yrs from all emotional attachments while he tries to put his life back together. Having your tragedy make national news will do that.First order of business for Ivy is to secure a check from the local theater and speak with Eric Young, the owner of the Garden Center, the object of Lauren Price’s desire. While at the theater Ivy runs into Will Carter, her first kiss and longtime school crush, who never gave her the time of day. Old feelings of inadequacy surface and she leaves there with her world spinning. By the time she meets up with Eric at the Garden Center she’s a mess having walked over a mile after her car runs out of gas. But her appearance sparks something within Eric and he makes her head spin even more.
I did not like Lauren from the start. A spoiled, little rich girl always used to getting her way regardless of the wreckage she leaves in her wake. Her step-brother Ryan, was no different. Staking a claim to his childhood friend and trying to take what he thought he should have. And, Will, The Hollywood wanna be that would use any situation or person to suit his needs for advancement and recognition, he actually surprised me.
The story had some good twists and turns that kept me involved. I mean who doesn’t love a little deception, blackmail and an emotional ride. The author showed a realistic tug of war of emotions between the characters and within the characters. I was pulling for Ivy and Eric to find some sense of peace and maybe even a Happy Ever After. The end of the story took me by surprise so I am looking forward to where Ivy and Eric’s story will go in Meant For Me coming December 2013.
