*SYNOPSIS*

Can his love mend the pieces of her grieving heart?

Years after suffering the tragic loss of her husband, Ethan, which left her alone to raise their young daughter, Clare Murray still holds the last letter he wrote with the words “When You’re Ready” written in his familiar messy handwriting, unable to break its weathered seal. Ready for what? He was her entire world, and Clare had accepted a life without him, without love. Until years later, fate brings her to an emergency room, and face to face with a stormy-eyed doctor intent on changing her mind.

Logan Matthews is the son of a billionaire who has spent his entire life trying to make his absent father proud. Years of living up to a man who was more ghost than father, and a publicly failed marriage has left Logan cold and emotionless until he walks into an exam room and discovers a woman who can stop his heart, make his body burn with desire and leave his entire world altered.

But how far are Clare and Logan willing to go for love? When their love is tested, is Clare ready to put her whole heart on the line again? Can Logan learn the true meaning of love, even if it means sacrificing his own happiness? When a second chance at love is given, Clare and Logan learn you never know if you are truly ready until you’re ready to risk it all.

Donna’s 4.5 Star Review

Debut novel from J.L. Berg and a well done one at that! 4.5 Stars for me!
The author pulls on your heartstrings from page one and holds them tight until the very last word. The story touches on several life struggles such as being a single parent, dealing with grief, illness, death and finding the strength to carry on. What you will find in the pages of this book is real emotion. What you leave this book with is a smile on your heart and a new book boyfriend.

Clare has lost her husband through illness leaving her a single mom to their daughter Maddy. It’s been 3 years but Clare has still not been able to move on. She has not been able to open the letter her husband left for her.

When Maddy is injured and needs medical attention Clare brings her to the hospital where her life changed. But little does she know that this time it will be changed for the better.

Meet Dr. Logan Matthews, a super sexy, rich and of course damaged man. But isn’t that what gets us. The tortured soul with a dark secret that can set our world on edge. He’s a player, a love em’ and leave em’ kind of man…until Clare.

Their encounter, although brief, has stirred some emotion in both of them. When they run into each other again outside of the hospital Logan cannot help himself and offers his “handy-man” services to Clare. What starts as a Q & A with Jelly Beans turns into so much more.

I enjoyed the progression of their relationship. Allowing it to grow and including Maddy, as any single mom would do, because they are a package deal and she must love him too. The inner conversations that Logan and Clare have with themselves are amusing to the reader. I smiled a lot and swooned for Logan right along with Clare. Logan’s gentleness and ability to put Clare and Maddy’s needs above his own showed what kind of a man he truly was.

“I love you.” I told her without hesitation, saying the words I’ve been holding inside of me for far too long. “I’ve loved you Clare, every minute of everyday, since the very first day.” ~ Logan

But we all know that life can change in an instant. When Logan gets some news he knows will affect those around him he decides to take matters into his own hands. But when the truth is revealed Clare must decide if this is a battle she is willing to fight. She finds her answer to her future in her past.

I would definitely suggest that you add When You’re Ready to you TBR list and the second installment of the series Never Been Ready too. I know that I will be looking forward to more works from J.L. Berg.
