New Review – PUDDLE JUMPING by Amber L Johnson

I am KICKING myself for leaving it so long to pick up this book!! Such a beautiful, heartwarming read.

When it comes to love there’s no such thing as conventional.

Everyone thinks Colton Neely is special.

Lilly Evans just thinks he’s fascinating.

Once friends when they were younger, their bond is cut short due to her accident prone nature and they go their separate ways. Years later, they meet again and Lilly learns that there is something special about the boy she once knew, but she has no idea what it all means. And she’s not sure if she’s ready to find out.

When he walks through the corridor of her school the first day of her senior year, she knows that it’s time to get to know the real Colton Neely. The more she learns, the deeper she falls.

Their friendship grows into love, even as Colton does not express it in words. But one decision threatens to break down the world that Lilly has tried so hard to integrate into and she must figure out if the relationship can survive if they are apart.

It begins with a boy and it ends with a boy, but what story doesn’t?

This book!! I am now blaming every single one of you who have read this book, and not forced me to read it, too. It was perfection in the most beautiful form.

I bought and read Puddle Jumping one Sunday morning when I had some (rare) free time, and it’s the best book choice I have made all year.

It was a very quick read, just around 121 pages, but it packed one heck of a punch. Gripping. Stunning. Beautiful. Intense. Superb. Brilliant. Perfect. The list could go on. This book was all the above and so much more.

The story of Lilly and Colton, filled my heart so full that it physically ached! Even just thinking about it makes my heart soar. Puddle Jumping is not only one of my Top 10 books of 2015, but it quite possibly holds the #1 spot.

If you take only one recommendation from me this year, make it this one.

It’s a true story of a girl falling for a boy. Nothing more. Nothing less. And I wouldn’t want it any other way.

Amber lives in Texas with her amazingly talented husband and incredibly gifted son. Most known for her novella Puddle Jumping (a 2014 Goodreads Choice Award for Best YA) she is constantly trying her hand at new genres and ideas to force herself to think outside the box.

She is inspired by music, her family, a close group of friends, and real life. Mostly in that order.
