He never meant to hurt her.

Levi “Painter” Brooks was nothing before he joined the Reapers motorcycle club. The day he patched in, they became his brothers and his life. All they asked in return was a strong arm and unconditional loyalty—a loyalty that’s tested when he’s caught and sentenced to prison for a crime committed on their behalf.

Melanie Tucker may have had a rough start, but along the way she’s learned to fight for her future. She’s escaped from hell and started a new life, yet every night she dreams of a biker whose touch she can’t forget. It all started out so innocently—just a series of letters to a lonely man in prison. Friendly. Harmless. Safe.

Now Painter Brooks is coming home… and Melanie’s about to learn that there’s no room for innocence in the Reapers MC.

It’s always a happy day at Hot Reads HQ when the latest Joanna Wylde book hits my Kindle, and after the torturous wait for Painter and Mel’s book, I was ridiculously excited to dive back in to one of my very favourite series.

Gah, where do I start with these two?? They were pretty tumultuous. There was a lot of back and forth and I honestly had no idea where the book–or the characters–were heading, and I loved that, even though it did have me on edge!

I loved the letters that were in shown in the book–it felt like the only time Painter and Mel were ever really completely honest and open with each other during the first half of the book, and I found so much emotion buried in them.

The romance addict in me was getting kind of nervous considering the hero and heroine spent the majority of the book apart for various reasons, but the times they were together, hot damn! Joanna Wylde sure knows how to bring the sizzle to ease a stressful situation.

I can’t say I was the biggest fan of Painter or Mel during the first half of the book, during their younger years (late teens/early twenties) but as they matured (praise be character growth!!) I really did like both characters and I was desperate for them to get a HEA!

The final 40% of the book was by far the best. I loved all the characters, and I loved all the directions the plot took, and how the book ended. Then add in the bonus scene at the end…I need Gage’s book immediately! Bring on Reaper’s Fire!!!
