Check out my review of book #4 in the Dragon’s Lair series below. A second chance biker romance!
Rake is known for being up for anything, in and out of the bedroom. He’s wild, he’s deadly, yet quick with a joke or a stolen kiss. Known as the player of the WDMC, he loves women, the more the merrier. However, behind his womanizing façade, Rake hides the pain of losing his first love, Bailey. He hasn’t loved anyone since, and doesn’t think he ever will.
Seven years after their split, Rake and Bailey run into each other at the MC’s favorite club. Old wounds resurface, secrets are spilled…and passionate feelings are awakened. But they’ve each done things to hurt the other, hurt them too badly to get over it—haven’t they? Only when Bailey’s connection to Rake puts her in danger from another Club member does he realize that there’s nothing he won’t do to protect her—and claim her as his once again.
Rake’s Redemption was such a great read! We know Rake from the previous books–he’s Anna’s (Arrow’s Old Lady) sister–and Bailey is a new-to-us character but not new to Rake. I love second chance romances, and this was a great one! I have to say, I completely fell in love with Rake and Bailey. I loved the tension and the heartbreak and the need that poured from them in the beginning, and I loved watching Rake turn all alpha whenever it came to Bailey.
You could tell that he was still hopelessly in love her, but there was something that had once torn them apart which caused both of them seemingly endless amounts of pain. It took me quite a while to figure it out, because there were no clues at all as to what had come between them when they were younger, but after a while I had an inkling, and when it all came out, it completely changed the whole feel of the story. Though there was still lots of emotion and heartbreak, it was the start of more.
What I will say, is that the timeline between book #3.5, Dirty Ride, and Rake’s Redemption, the timelines did not fit at all. I was so confused as I was reading because Irish was with Valentina at the end of Dirty Ride, but not with her for the majority of book #4. It really through me off, but other than that, I really enjoyed the book.
The epilogue was everything I love in an ending and so much more!! I was honestly on cloud nine while I read and I had the biggest, cheesiest grin on my face! I could have carried on that scene for another 100 pages and I would have devoured every word. *dreamy sigh* It really was perfect. The only thing I was left wanting as I turned the final page? Please let Talon (rival biker) and Tia (Bailey’s BFF) get a book!!
